About the production
Ruthless and charming city trader Johnny (Don Giovanni) slinks effortlessly through London's dark underbelly on the prowl for new experiences. Dragging his reluctant intern Alexander behind him, Johnny finds his hedonistic world unravelling as he leaves a trail of broken hearts and spilt blood in his wake. Johnny is devious and dangerous beyond a doubt but in this morally ambiguous world, can anyone emerge untainted?
Sex, violence and beautiful music characterise this story of a man who thinks he can have it all and get away with it.
Set in the heady days of the early noughties this new English translation by Olivier award-winning director Robin Norton-Hale was first performed at the Soho Theatre in 2011 and Bath Opera are very pleased to announce that by special arrangement with Robin Norton-Hale it is the first time it will be seen outside London.
Musical direction is by Bath Opera's Peter Blackwood and the company is pleased to welcome back director Jane Clark who directed the company's successful touring production of Carmen last year.
