About the concerts
In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Britten's birth, we will be performing two concerts entitled "A Great Britten Celebration" in aid of local charities. The concerts will combine some of his best-loved and well-known choruses, along with various solo pieces, and we'll be joined by children from Curtain Up Theatre School. Highlights include The Choral Dances from Gloriana and Old Joe Has Gone Fishing from Peter Grimes and the concert will be conducted by Rupert Drury (most recently seen singing the role of Ismael in Nabucco) and accompanied by our very own Peter Blackwood on the piano. We will be giving two performances of this concert, both raising money for local charities. On Wednesday 26th June, we will be performing at St Swithin’s Church in Bath in aid of the Mineral Hospital in Bath – Tickets are available via the Bath Festivals Box Office on . On Wednesday 3rd July, we’ll be at Christchurch in Bradford on Avon in aid of Dorothy House – Tickets available via the Bradford on Avon TIC on . And it’s not too late to come and join us – We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at Widcombe Junior School in Bath from 7.30pm, and we are always pleased to see new faces! If you’d like more information, do not hesitate to contact our secretary, Lucy via [email protected].
