About the production
Bath Opera opens its 40th anniversary season with a colourful, witty opera - Berlioz's comic take on Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing". The music varies from being as brilliantly sparkling as a crystal chandelier to the most exquisite poignancy.
This beautifully staged production with full orchestra and chorus is created by the team whose production of Peter Grimes in 2015 won the prestigious NODA awards for 'Best opera production' and 'Best chorus singing'.
On Friday 17th at 6.30pm there will be a free pre-show talk by the Director and Music Director with insights into the music of Berlioz, his love for Shakespeare and the creative approach to this production.
