La Boheme, 2018

Further auditions for our summer tour of 'La Boheme' will be held from 8.30pm at Widcombe Junior School, Pulteney Road, Bath on Wednesday March 7th.

Auditions have commenced and the following parts have been cast

Mimi Julia O'Connor
Musetta Kate Eastment
Marcello Anthony Sanchez Harris
Rodolfo Luke Daniel

There will be further auditions to accommodate people who were unable to make the first auditions. Open for audition are four vital second principal roles. Some of them provide the light relief.

The list is as follows:

Schaunard (Baritone) Musician, part of the poor Bohemian group of friends.
Colline (Bass) Philosopher, poor bohemian friend of above.
Alcindoro (Bass) Rich sugar daddy to Musetta. Pompous, elderly.
Benoit (Bass) Landlord, shrewd, unfaithful womaniser if given the chance.

Some people have already auditioned for these roles but they will not be cast until the directors have heard others who have expressed an interest.

We are using the Ricordi translation.

Auditioners can sing any aria in English for their chosen part from La Boheme, or failing that, another Puccini aria.

The director Julia Houghton says that the opera will be traditionally staged with a very limited chorus. Rehearsals will be on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, following auditions. She expects full commitment to rehearsals as it will be a short rehearsal period.

Note that entry to the school is from the car park at the rear.

Please read our Audition Policy to learn about the format of the auditions and the fees payable by non-members.

This is an opportunity to join them and be in what is arguably the world's most popular opera. New members are really welcome. Please let Julia or Peter know if you are interested. Julia is on 07703 757450. Peter is on 07767 624637.

Jane Clark, Chairman, Bath Opera.
