About the production

For over ten years Bath Opera has delighted audiences around the West Country with its smaller touring productions.

This year's production is the ever popular Carmen. The edgy central character of Carmen, always skirting the conventions of society - flirting with danger and with the celebrities of the day - is an ideal candidate to be transported into modern Spain...away from the Bullring and into the football stadium.

In these intimate scale productions you will feel as if you are part of the action, as Carmen's world of headstrong passion is played out to its tragic conclusion though music of enduring stength and beauty.

A very strong cast is headed by the Australian soprano Sophie Yelland, making her debut with Bath Opera in the title role.
